Even when photographing animals I’m looking for opportunities to render something artistic with my lens. It doesn’t always work out but I’m happy when it does.

The strong winds yesterday kicked up a sudden sandstorm that I had to contend with while shooting on a ranch. Of course My thoughts at the time were to shoot first, take cover second.

It’s that time of year again when I go out with this equestrian group and for the better part of the week I run around in the woods and swamps by day looking for shots like this and by night I shoot the parties and a formal ball that they put on. It’s a fun job that I look forward to every year.

I wanted to compose an image that highlighted the stained glass windows in the sanctuary of the Cathedral Basilica. It took quite a while to actually get the shot. There were some people who came in to pray and out of respect I waited patiently for a moment when the sanctuary was empty to shoot.

As the sun began to rise it’s light caught in the dew on this web and attracted my attention. It’s so nice when I can be in a place where I can appreciate the simple beauty of nature.

The deep quiet of the predawn wilderness was very calming as I walked through the mist with my camera in search of scenes like this.

I knew the instant I walked into this wilderness area that I wanted to shoot it in infrared. I haven’t worked in that medium for a while and the scenery here was just what I needed to inspire me again.
