I don’t make it a habit of posting client work here on my daily journal because as a general rule I like to use this venue as a place to display assorted personal work that I do for my own enjoyment. As I write this entry though I am at the point where except for the image I made in the rain yesterday I haven’t shot anything personal in a while. Shooting for clients has been keeping me more than busy and my calendar is heavily booked for some time into the future as well. This image is one that I was assigned to shoot for a magazine cover yesterday. It’s also the first shot that I’ve made with a new 7 foot diameter parabolic umbrella that I just had shipped in. I think I like the result.

It has been so long it has rained around here. Yesterday the skies finally clouded up and storms rolled through all day and night. As you probably know by now I love to shoot in the rain so I took some time for myself between appointments to do just that. I got totally drenched and enjoyed every minute of it.

Lens flare, saturated colors, repetitive patterns… You know I was totally sucked into this one.

I ran across this scene last week while shooting on location for a client and just had to divert from the task at hand for a moment to shoot this for myself.

Just something I shot while driving a while back.

I think I forgot to post this one back when I shot it last month. The plane in the image is a Lockheed Electra, the same model aircraft that Amelia Earhart used in her infamous attempt at trans-global flight. While I was photographing I was told that this is the specific plane that was used in the 2009 documentary film about her life.

In other news, a book that I worked on as photo editor, photo restorer, and contributing photographer, Tampa’s Hyde Park by author Del Acosta was just published on Monday. It is a pictorial history of one of Tampa’s oldest neighborhoods. Available at Amazon.com, bookstores, and museum stores.

I was photographing an equestrian event this past weekend and I really liked this composition that came together out on the ranch.

The big news this weekend was the perigee moon, also referred to as the supermoon. We won’t see one like this again until 2029. Of course I made a couple shots of the moon itself but you know I couldn’t be content with just that. I wasn’t able to travel to any cool locations on Saturday night to shoot the moon so I simply found a few compositions right in my own front yard. Here a few more, click on them to see the full image.
