Your payment will cover lodging, transportation, location entrance fees, as well as drinks and snacks on the road. The amount is based on double-occupancy, a single supplement is available for an additional fee. If you have any special needs or requests please feel free to let me know in advance. We will roam widely but our home base will be Albuquerque due to its central location, airport, interstate corridor proximity, and overall amenities. I will provide snacks, drinks, and other essentials in the vehicle for each day trip. Meals and alcoholic beverages are at your own expense. We try to avoid national chain restaurants and eat at locations that are unique and offer local cuisine. I feel that this sort of culinary atmosphere enhances the ambience of your trip. The dining experiences can run the gamut from the famous Owl Cafe diner (home of the original green chile cheeseburger, hand-dipped shakes, and homemade pies) to the highest altitude full-service restaurant in North America; High Finance, based on the preferences of the group. The Chaco Canyon trip is the exception here. Due it's remote location and the time we spend traveling I will pack along enough food for the day.

Feel free to bring along samples of your work in any format if you choose. If time permits evaluations/critiques etc. can take place on an informal basis after hours or during down-time. I try to avoid cutting into clients available shooting/exploring time when possible. Bring whatever photo gear you can travel easily with and try to keep in mind the comfort of your fellow photographers. There is a separate page with a list of recommended items to pack, photo-related and otherwise.

Smoking is not allowed in the vehicle or during group meals and is discouraged in wilderness areas. I strongly advocate a "leave no trace" ethic when hiking and exploring. Garbage and wild fires really can ruin a fine landscape.

Albuquerque is also the unofficial world capital of hot air ballooning. I am a licensed pilot, I own and fly a hot air balloon, and it is through this fascinating sport that I discovered the magic of New Mexico over seventeen years ago. I have been held captive in it's spell ever since. We are certain to see many balloons in the cobalt blue skies west of town as weather permits their flying. If you have an interest I will be happy to brief you on the details of the sport and include a balloon chase photo-op during the tour. Clients who are interested may book a flight with a local commercial pilot during their stay.

I want you to know that as a photographer I understand how important it can be to get that special shot. Our schedule is flexible to allow for extended shooting times on a location when necessary and I don't mind pulling off the road when traveling (safety permitting) if someone spots a must-shoot image. Are you familiar with the story behind Ansel Adams' "Moonrise, Hernandez"? If he hadn't stopped the car in time we would of been deprived of the most famous New Mexico landscape photograph ever taken.

While on location you are free to explore and go your own way if you choose. Professional two-way radios (not those cheap, discount-mart radios) are used to ensure safety and timely regrouping. A first-aid kit will be on hand at all times. All locations and activities are subject to change based on weather, client needs, unforeseen events, etc. I encourage clients to purchase trip insurance.
