Hi,
I'm Jim and I am looking forward to the opportunity to pass along some of my knowledge and experience in the photographic arts while guiding you on a journey through an array of landscape environments. You can hone your skills and apply new techniques while exploring unspoiled natural settings and remnants of ancient cultures.

I have been observing the world through the viewfinder for over 22 years. In addition to fine art and landscapes which are my true photographic love I have worked professionally doing product, catalog, promotional, event, portrait, fashion, and wedding photography. I first had the opportunity to travel and photograph in the state of New Mexico 17 years ago (I took the self-portrait at right on that trip) and I have been captivated by it's special magic since day one.

I don't restrict myself to a single format or reproduction method in my work therefore I have a breadth of working experience to draw from as I guide you through this very special landscape. I personally work with an array of equipment. I have a love of "triple M" cameras (metal, manual, mechanical) and I still shoot with a couple of thirty year old 35mm SLR bodies and a forty-plus year old twin-lens reflex camera. I also work with more modern automatic 35mm equipment in both film and digital formats. I don't have a preference when it comes to color vs. black and white. I presently work as much in infrared and traditional black & white as I do in color. I choose my method based on my personal preconception of an image. I currently work extensively in Photoshop but I also have plenty of good-old-fashioned darkroom experience under my belt and I still occasionally work with the enlarger and chemicals. I feel this broad scope of working photographic experience helps me to be a valuable resource for you draw on during the course of your adventure.

I hope that after spending some time reading descriptions and perusing the sample images taken in the locations mentioned that you will consider reserving a place for yourself on an upcoming trip. If you like the sample images that appear on this site you can go to my main site to see larger versions of these and many more that are available for purchase ready to frame. If there is additional information that you would like to know please use the link on the right to contact me.

   Best Regards,
   Jim
