Anasazi Moon
We had been inside of the ruins of Pueblo Bonito in Chaco Canyon photographing some of the interior rooms while the light was right and when we came back outside we discovered that the moon had risen silently above the tall eastern walls of the structure and was awaiting the attention of our lenses. We had only a few minutes to give it our attention before it became obscured by clouds. In the western sky the sun slipped below the horizon signaling the official closing of the ruins and we made our exit. We did make some stops to photograph some deer that we encountered on the way out and to photograph the moon again as it re-emerged from the clouds above Fajada Butte. Later that night after dining on wine and sandwiches outside the park's observatory we used the moon as a light source to make some spectacular time exposures in the canyon. Tune in here tomorrow for an example.
