Shrine At Night

I have photographed this shrine before in the daytime but it takes on an entirely different character by night. The mixed color temperatures of candlelight along with moonlight and streetlights shining through the windows and open doors rendered a most pleasing rainbow of colors in the camera. I kept my handy beanbag in my pocket during the entire trip and made use of it about a dozen times a day to stabilize my cameras for long exposures. Inside places like shrines, chapels, and churches I like to be somewhat respectful with my photography and prefer to avoid the obtrusiveness of a tripod. The little beanbag is also handy in places like bars and restaurants where a tripod could be hazardous due to all the foot traffic of patrons and servers. In this particular instance I just took the beanbag out of my pocket and and discreetly placed it with my camera on the edge of a pedestal that held a font for holy water.
