High Noon

I try to make it a habit to stop and look up every so often when inside a slot canyon because the view above is often just as interesting as what lies ahead. As the sun passed through the zenith overhead we worked quickly to make some exposures. As you can see on the boulder to the left, the shaft of light that penetrated to the canyon floor at this spot was only about 10 inches wide and we had to to maneuver within tight quarters to stand within the light and shoot the sun. In a few short minutes the sun had passed across the narrow gap overhead and we were walking once again in the cool shade of the canyon.
